History of the Center

When the Center for Relaxation and Healing opened its doors in April of 1992, there was a staff of two, recently married Kim and Vince Falone. Both massage therapists when they met, Vince had been working in a health club and Kim in a chiropractor’s office. The Falones chose the name, Center for Relaxation and Healing, very carefully, wanting a title large enough to encompass all forms of healing they anticipated taking place under their roof. They were also deliberate about placing “relaxation” before “healing”, knowing that relaxation is a necessary first step in any healing process.

Twenty years ago public education and awareness were essential. Many people were unfamiliar with massage as an approach to health care, and Vince and Kim were excited by the challenge of educating others about the healing benefits of massage therapy. A number of the Center’s most loyal clients were met offering chair massage at Bottle Hill Day in Madison in the early years.

Out of necessity the Center grew as the Falone family grew. On Kim’s first maternity leave, Massage Therapist Samantha Murphy joined the Center. Samantha was the first of many talented and well educated massage therapists. As important as a soothing and peaceful atmosphere can be, the Falones realized early on that the quality of the massage therapists and bodyworkers on staff was by far the most essential element of the Center. The Center now has fifteen highly trained, experienced therapists.

In 2001 the Center moved to Chatham Township, giving the Falones, who were Chatham Township residents, the privilege of blending their work and home life – and an easy commute. A few years later the Center happily established an affiliation with the Chatham Club, a long standing, state-of-the-art health club, conveniently located next door to the Center on Southern Boulevard. This partnership has allowed Chatham Club members access to high quality massage therapy and has given clients of the Center the use of shower and sauna facilities if desired.

Moving forward, the Center will continue to offer an intelligent, educated approach to healing through massage and bodywork. If you are experiencing muscular pain or stress on any level, the talented, experienced staff at the Center for Relaxation and Healing can help.
